1969 Hampton Cup Regatta

And here's the REAL STORY: On Saturday, Charlie Dunn did a complete 360 blowover, after finding out that Charlie was okay (knock out unconscious) Larry took the boat (with added duct tape, see above the N-40 numbers, aka 100mph tape) out same day and won the final heat tying the world record. THE NEXT MORNING, Larry put a 40lb. bag of sand in front of the engine and put a half inch larger propeller to raise the stern up with anticipation of breaking the world record. (He was breaking it for 2 laps, then Larry blew it over, broke his ribs, rupture spleen, broke wrist, broke ankle). This is the boat after that, hence the broken nose. AND THAT'S THE REAL STORY LABOR DAY WEEKEND 1969.
