Testimonials

I’ve been around boats and boating all my life.

I was introduced to hydroplane racing in the early 1950s.  Beginning In 1958, my brother (Robert) and I began serving as crew members for Ed Aleksandrowicz, a 266 class owner/driver.

Ed’s first hydroplane was an early (circa 1953) Lauterbach design, like “Henry’s 10th”,  presently owned by the Dan and Debbie Joseph.  With this boat, Ed set many course records in the Mid-Atlantic region, and was the first limited hydroplane driver, in Maryland, to exceed 100 mph.  The American Power Boat Association honored Ed for this accomplishment.  He was inducted into the Gulf Marine Hall of fame and the Gulf 100 MPH Club.  This speaks volumes for Henry’s design and attention to detail.

Today, Larry, carries on the Lauterbach tradition,  by building hydroplanes that are known by their quality of workmanship and attention to detail.  Wanton Duchess’ restoration reflects Larry’s workmanship and that tradition.
